Have you been using Facebook for years now? Have you ever worried about making a backup of your Facebook account? Have you ever wondered what would happen if Facebook no longer made parts of your account available overnight? You may lose photos, posts, and messages forever. For this reason, if you haven’t done it yet, I suggest you backup your Facebook account. How? Following this tutorial will allow you to quickly make a complete backup of your Facebook account.
How to backup a Facebook account?
The procedure for backing up the Facebook Account can be performed both from your computer and your smartphone. Still, in both cases, they consist of three phases: request for backup, processing of the backup (carried out directly on the Facebook servers), and receiving the backup.
Without getting further lost in useless preambles, I will immediately explain how to perform this procedure safely, recommending that you follow it faithfully to avoid losing important information.
Procedure to request a backup of the Facebook account
To backup, your Facebook account from your computer, access your Facebook account with your web browser from your PC and click on the last symbol at the top right (the symbol in the shape of an inverted triangle next to the question mark) and in the menu that appears select the item “settings”.
The settings window will open. Now in the left sidebar, select the third item, “Your information on Facebook,” and then select the item “Download your information.” In the next window, click the green button “Start my Archive.”
A new window will open where we will have to check the type of data we want to insert in the backup (posts, photos and videos, comments, “likes” and reactions, friends, etc.). Select the items you want to backup and when you are done, click the “Create file” button at the top right. At this point, you have sent the backup request to Facebook and you will have to wait for the processing to be completed (see below).
Procedure from the mobile
To back up your Facebook account directly from your mobile, open the Facebook app, access your Facebook account with the app, click on the icon with three horizontal lines; select the item “Settings and privacy” and then select the item “Settings.” On the next screen, you will need to select the item “Access your information.”
In this window, select all the items you want to backup and when you are done, click the Create file button at the top right. At this point, you have sent the backup request to Facebook and you will have to wait for the processing to complete (see below).
The request for a backup will not take you more than a minute, but its execution and its response will take some time (sometimes even days). You do not have to do anything, you just have to wait and when the backup is ready, you will be notified by Facebook via an email that will also contain the link for downloading the backup.
Once you have received the email from Facebook that informs us that the backup is ready, all you have to do is open the email and click the backup link contained within it. You will be directed to a Facebook page where you will have to click the green Download Archive button.
For obvious security reasons, you will be asked to enter the password you normally use to log into Facebook. Once the password has been entered, the backup download will start automatically.
The backup performed is made available only for a few days, so as soon as you receive the email, download the backup to avoid having to repeat the request. The backup file is a zip file with all the required content inside. Keep it carefully in a safe folder.
